Radical honesty & metaphysics

Most of us live on the spectrum of falsehood most of the time: saying we're fine when we're not, faking enthusiasm, stuffing down opinions, living from other people's expectations. It's exhausting, unnecessary, and genuinely unhelpful if self-realization and fulfillment is your goal. Radical honesty — with discernment — doesn't only feel better, it's empowering, energizing, relationally reparative, and gives us access to new dimensions of reality. (Seriously.)

01 — RADICAL HONESTY

A practice that changes your life & relationships

02 — METAPHYSICS

For clarifying the signal that shapes your world

03 — MY FRAMEWORK

The philosophy inside the practice

Radical honesty means reporting your mind, your sensations, and your experience of life.

Even such basic honesty poses a challenge for most of us — because we've been conditioned to hide, deny our needs, and perform for love. But you don't actually have to do any of those to be loved and accepted, which is part of what a radical honesty practice will show you.

Is it really worth the work?
Yes, it's very much worth the work, but it is work — and it will ask for more than just your truth. It requires care, an increased capacity to sit with conflicting emotions and opinions, and the skills to move through reactivity — which is why a trained guide is useful. I grow your ability for all of the above, so that love feels freer, your spirit feels more connected, and you finally feel fulfilled as a result.
Does it mean blurting out every unfiltered thought?
No. (Except in our sessions.) Radical honesty doesn't mean saying everything, or using honesty as a weapon. BUT: you will do both those things, and that's okay. These are normal stops on the path to an honest life — it's clunky at first. That's why it's helpful to start your approach in spaces built for this practice, rather than in the high-stakes arena of your real-life relationships.
What happens after I'm honest?
That's the magic part. When you're finally real about how you feel, what you need, what you desire, the universe responds. Opportunities present themselves, people react more positively than you expected, what's meant to go goes and what's meant to take its place arrives without resistance. This is what I mean when I say radical honesty changes everything.

Where it helps

Where radical honesty supports connection in your life and relationships

When you've changed

  • Outgrowing a career, a marriage, or a home
  • No longer believing what your family or community believes
  • A reckoning with your own sexuality, gender, or faith
  • Wanting out of something you fought hard to get into

When you have to hold a line

  • Telling a loved one you can't be the one to care for them
  • Giving your family disappointing news
  • Telling someone their behavior crossed a line with you
  • Telling a friend you can't keep showing up how you used to

When love has changed

  • Telling your partner your desire has faded
  • Admitting you've been unhappy for a long time
  • Leaving a relationship everyone expected to last
  • Telling a close friend they've lost your trust

When the truth is hard to say

  • Confronting a loved one about past harm
  • Telling someone their addiction is a problem
  • Saying you were wrong, out loud, to the person you wronged
  • Telling your child something that's hard to bear

Radical honesty changes more than just the conversation. It changes everything.

Figure seated in meditation, radiating light

The concept is simple. There is a channel between you and "Something Greater" — God, Spirit, Source, whatever you call it. Over time, that channel gets fuzzy with fears and worldly concerns, so the signal from outside can't reach you clearly, and your own can't reach back. Radical honesty clears the channel.

With clarity, doors open, abundance and opportunity arrive, love and acceptance find you, and synchronicities show up to prove you're on track. This is how radical honesty changes your signal, your experience, and your life. It builds trust and integrity, within yourself and with the Cosmos.

Your inner and outer worlds are a
co-creation under your influence. I help you harness that influence.

Lineage and traditions

I trained as a counsellor, and later as a spiritual counsellor with a master's in metaphysics. I specialize in radical honesty and shadow work after ten years of experiential practice and related esoteric study under Phil T. Mistlberger — author, transpersonal therapist, and the creator of Conscious Relationship Training.

Popularized by American psychotherapist Brad Blanton in the 1990s, the idea here is that the constant low-grade lying most of us do — editing, performing, withholding — is the chief source of human stress. Stripped to its essence, the practice is simply reporting what's true for you: your mind, your body, your feelings, without the usual concealment. It's the fastest route back to yourself, and to real intimacy — the throughline of everything I do.
The term comes from the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung (1875–1961), who called the "shadow" everything about ourselves we've pushed out of sight — the traits we judge, deny, or were shamed out of. Jung's insight was that what we refuse to face doesn't vanish; it runs us from below and leaks out onto everyone around us. Shadow work is the practice of turning toward that disowned material and reclaiming it, so it stops sabotaging your life and relationships.
Rooted in the somatic tradition — from Wilhelm Reich's early insight that emotion lodges in the body, through to Peter Levine's Somatic Experiencing, which shows how the nervous system stores and releases overwhelming experience — this is the understanding that insight alone rarely changes us; the shift has to happen in the body too. Somatic integration is how the realizations of shadow work get metabolized — felt, moved through, and settled in the body — so they become a new way of being rather than just another thing you know.
The idea that we cast our own hidden material onto others runs from Freud through Jung and into modern relational psychology. The ego — the self-image we defend — survives by keeping its blind spots hidden, and assigning them to the people around us instead. Learning to catch your own projections moves you out of victim-mentality and into ownership, where genuine relational power begins.
Most relationships settle into a boring and unspoken bargain — I won't disturb you, you won't disturb me — that ironically keeps us from the very thing that makes us feel alive and well-loved: being fully seen. The result is flatness, resentment, depression, anxiety, recklessness, infidelity, and so on. Conscious Relationship practice as devised by P.T. Mistlberger exposes these patterns in real time, and serves as the training ground for maintaining honest connection and aliveness instead of fleeing or collapsing.
The oldest tool here by thousands of years, drawn from the Vedic and Buddhist traditions of the East. Sit with your own mind for a time and something strange becomes obvious: you don't author most of what passes through it — thoughts appear unbidden, run their course, and dissolve. Meditation is the practice of noticing or interrupting that, and clarifying yourself within it. This compounds between sessions, clearing your signal so you can perceive and receive more accurately, and giving you space to respond instead of react.
Traced back to Hellenistic Egypt and carried for centuries through Islamic and European mysticism, spiritual alchemy is about turning "lead" into "gold" — alchemizing the base, rejected parts of the self into something luminous. Jung revived this in the 20th century as a map of psychological transformation: the slow, deliberate transmutation of your heaviest material into wisdom and freedom.
Also called the Fourth Way, this is the teaching of G.I. Gurdjieff (1866–1949). Where older paths trained just one aspect of a person (and required withdrawing from society), his works the body, heart, and mind together — inside an ordinary life of jobs, family, and everyday friction. That's the point: daily life isn't an obstacle to the work, it's the material of it. Through self-observation and "self-remembering" — staying awake to yourself in the middle of a reaction instead of being run by it — you build the capacity to meet life's challenges with presence and choice instead of operating on autopilot.
This is the body of knowledge that mainstream science and religion left behind — the "secret" teachings that run throughout Western history. Hermeticism, the Kabbalah, Gnosticism, Neoplatonism, alchemy, astrology, theurgy: rejected or forgotten by the official institutions but never lost, passed down through the centuries by those who maintain a study of the fullness of reality. The throughline is that existence contains hidden depths the ordinary senses and "official" knowledge miss, and that one can come to know and participate in them directly.

My framework

Somatic shadow work is a body-supported approach to deep emotional, psycho-spiritual processing. I combine radical honesty and conscious relationship practice with real-life action + communication plans derived from the esoteric work (“spiritual homework”) I assign between sessions.

What results:

  • You stop performing for love and find love and acceptance as you are
  • Honesty stops costing you connection and becomes the thing that creates it
  • You can stay present in the fire of anger, grief, or someone else's emotions — without abandoning yourself
  • Conflict becomes a place of contact instead of a threat to your survival
  • The patterns that quietly ran your life for decades begin to dissolve
  • Your inner clarity starts reshaping your outer world — opportunity, ease, and synchronicity where there was friction
  • You trust your own knowing instead of outsourcing it
  • The right things begin to arrive, and the wrong ones fall away without a fight
  • You come into living relationship with something larger than yourself — as a source of energy and support

My signal

It's a long & personal story…

And if there's one thing I'm sure to do — it's be very forthcoming about all of it.

There was a time I had to get radically honest about my life. The truth is, I didn't come to this work because I was curious — or even interested — I came because I was trying to punish a man.

Specifically, I was on a bender after having walked in on my quite unwell then-boyfriend cheating on me in an exceptionally grotesque way. It was thanks to this that — somewhere between all the drinking, weeping, and Ben & Jerry's — I found my teacher, and a new dimension of reality opened to me.

I didn't know anything about Phil T. Mistlberger or transpersonal therapy at the time. I just knew something needed to change, and my spiritual woo-woo friend had mentioned some guru a week prior whose weird name I happened to remember (T is for Teertha, Sanskrit for "bridge" or "teacher").

I tracked him down and booked a session, during which he suggested I join his 16 week shadow work and radical honesty intensive: Conscious Relationship Training (CRT). I jumped at the chance to punish (and possibly fix!) the boyfriend and signed us both up, smugly confident that he was the problem and I was a saint for putting up with him.

Spoiler: I was wrong and I am not a saint.

Those 16 weeks of CRT afforded me the opportunity to look, and really see, the unconscious patterns running my life and relationships — and what I saw was ghastly. Everywhere I turned, there was just more me: every rejected aspect, every part of my personality fabricated out of fear and shame, every relational pattern I'd blamed on every partner I'd ever chosen.

Radical honesty was a gift that showed me I was the throughline. That the one thing all my troubles had in common was ME. That my channel was fuzzy AF, and that I alone had the power to change it.

Needless to say, my explosive old romance came to a predictably messy conclusion, and those 16 weeks of CRT turned into hundreds. Eventually I began leading sessions, and around the same time I was initiated into Phil's mystery school, where I went down a deep esoteric rabbit hole — looking for magic to salve my wounds.

In part, it worked. Radical honesty and metaphysics opened my life in profound, unexpected ways — but I didn't have the nervous system fortitude to handle it. All that intensive self-discovery, undeniable magic, and the relentless synchronicities quickly became too much. I needed to grow my inner infrastructure to process it.

So I stepped back, and did just that: I gained regulation skills, and an ability to experience big sensations and emotions without freaking out. Once I'd grown my capacity to hold more of the fullness of life, I could hold more of the magic of it too — which is when I stepped back in and finally took full ownership over my reality.

Today, I help other people do the same.

Since then, I've attained the temple's Inner Order, gotten a master's degree in Metaphysical Sciences, swapped my high-powered big-city corporate experience for slow, quiet, island living, and changed how I show up for life in honour of my timing, my system, and my gifts.

I left my conditioning and everyone else's expectations at the door and discovered that I'm actually more loved, more helpful, and more fulfilled as a result — the opposite of what my old fears had led me to believe.

Now, I live for the moment people realize they aren't limited to the fabricated version of themselves, and that life and love isn't either. When they first glimpse their connection with Something Greater — that ever-present source of power and support — and learn to activate it.

Whether by chance or by destiny, I happened upon this transformative experience. And thanks to a skilled and honest teacher, I got out of my own way long enough to let the magic play out. I hope you'll do the same.

With love,
Steph
